Def.: catchy name given to a law enforcement tactic used to achieve entry into premises without having a warrant or without having probable cause for a search warrant. The officers knock at the door and ask to be let in. They inform the occupant, once inside, of their suspicions and ask for consent to search.
        • "We were able to search the house after the knock and talk," testified the officer.
