A petition for admission to practice is available for active members in good standing of the State Bar of California. The admission fee is $206.00. Please make the check payable to the United States District Court.

The day the Court receives both the petition for admission and the fee is the date the attorney is admitted and free to practice in this Court.

The admission card is 4" x 6". Please do not, cut, alter the size or shape of the admission card. Please submit the petition in the same format printed.

You must also register for CM/ECF. Electronic filing is mandatory in the Southern District of California. There is no additional fee for electronic case filing.

Important Note: please use an attorney service or delivery service ( i.e., UPS, Fed Ex, etc.), for delivery of your original petition for admission and fee to confirm it was received by the Court.

Once your petition and fee has been received by the Court, please complete the CM/ECF registration form.
